Opening Hours
The Toy Box Day Nursery is open from 7.45am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. We will be closed for all official bank holidays, and for the period between Christmas and New Year.

Orange Room - Our Baby Unit for 3 Months to 1 Year Olds
Our six place baby unit is under the care of our Senior Nursery Nurse and well-trained nursery staff. Whilst being fully integrated with the main nursery, the baby unit is able to function independently in order to provide the very best care for our youngest children. To this end it has dedicated kitchen and baby changing facilities. Parents can be assured that the knowledge and expertise applied in the running of the baby unit is of the very highest standard. Consequently parents can be confident that their child will be safe and well cared for in a modern, well-equipped, yet homely nursery environment.

Older Children
Of course, the facilities provided for the care, and mental and physical stimulation of the older children are no less than any parent would want for their child. Children have constant access to books, puzzles, educational toys, water, sand, and with guidance from nursery staff access to computers.

We believe that smaller groups of children receive better care and will naturally feel more integrated within their group, something along the lines of being ‘A Big Fish In A Small Pond’, and not ‘Lost In The Crowd’. We therefore have divided the older children into three separate age groups with access to four rooms. The Yellow Room is for our 1 to 2 year olds, the Red Room for our 2 to 3 year olds, and the Green Room for our 3 to 5 year olds. The Blue Room is our communal room and is used by all the children over 2 years (but not all together) at various times to give them a change of location within the main building which increases their stimulation and creates more space for them to explore.

Outside Play
Children of all ages have year-round access to outside play areas incorporating hard and soft play areas, and robust all weather play equipment. We also have two Sensory Gardens where children can grow and tend flowers and vegetables under the giuidance of our Staff Team. Children involved with natural processes like gardening quickly develop a basic understanding of what it takes to grow plants, and have experiences of the various colours, textures, and smells that you simply can't duplicate Indoors.

We believe in the value of time spent playing and exploring outdoors. To this end we make use of our two outdoor play areas at every opportunity, even if the weather isn't too kind. Of course we take all suitable precautions to ensure children's well being come rain or shine, so it's Macs and Wellies in the wet, and Hats and Sun Block in the sun. In hot weather we also provide extra shade, and we even have our own 'Wet Days' where children can play in paddling pools and have a great time with water.
